Most people want to die at home, not in a hospital. But too many people receive aggressive medical treatment at the end of life, despite wishes to die a “natural death” when cures and semi-independent functioning are futile. HealthCetera host Diana J. Mason, PhD, RN, talks with New York Times journalist Paula Span about this issue. Span wrote about the persistence of aggressive medical treatment at the end of life in her column, The New Old, that focuses on aging and care giving issues. This interview first aired on HealthCetera in the Catskills on WIOX Radio on September 20, 2023.
