During the deadliest days of the COVID-19 pandemic, millions of Americans relied solely on Telehealth to connect with their healthcare providers. Online healthcare has proven itself beneficial in important ways, including increased access to hard-to-reach communities and care without the risk of COVID transmission. However, with Telehealth also comes notable challenges, such as difficulty providing adequate mental health care services.
As we progress further way from the pandemic’s deadliest days, Telehealth’s necessity is coming into question. Will defunding TeleHealth rectify some of its negative effects? Do its shortcomings in mental health services justify its removal?
On this podcast, Diana Mason, PHD, RN, FAAN, host of HealthCetera in the Catskills on WIOX radio, considers the differing opinions on tele mental health care with Dr. Kathleen Delaney, PhD, APRN, PMH-NP, FAAN, a psychiatric-mental health nurse practitioner and professor of nursing at Rush University in Chicago.
This interview first aired on May 12, 2021, on Healthcetera in the Catskills on WIOX radio.
