Public Health: Public Aware?

Many people in public health, science, and health care are concerned about the Trump Administration’s massive and indiscriminate cuts in the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (the CDC ), the National Institutes of Health (NIH). and other departments under the Health and Human Services, as well as the suspension of federal scientific review panels, removal of publicly available data from federal health-related websites and other actions that are likely to endanger the public’s health in the short and long terms. But what does the public think of these significant changes? Are they even aware of them? HealthCetera producer and host Dr. Diana Mason, RN, talks with Dr. Rebekah H. Nagler, an Associate Professor at the Hubbard School of Journalism & Mass Communication at the University of Minnesota, about a survey she conducted that sought to answer these questions. The results were published by the Milbank Memorial Fund on April 25th. This interview first aired on HealthCetera in the Catskills on WIOX Radio on April 30, 2025.
