Healthstyles: Medicare Enrollment 2015 & fierceforblackwomen

Barbara Glickstein hosts this week’s Healthstyles on Thursday, September 18th at 1PM on WBAI Pacifica Radio 99.5FM streamed live on the web at http://www.wbai.org

Medicare’s Open Enrollment period is October 15 through December 7th. It’s the time when you can change your Medicare coverage. It can be a confusing to navigate the complex world of health insurance.

In the first half-hour Glickstein interviews John Sardellis, PhD, professor of health care at St. Joesph’s College of NY, and Member of the Society of Actuaries, who named this segment, “The ABCs and of course D of Medicare”  Tune in to hear him walk us through the process. Tune in (even if you’re not eligible for Medicare) and offer to share this advice with a relative, friend or elder neighbor or person with a disability who is covered by Medicare insurance.  We are public radio and we can all reach out and help someone.

Dr. Sardellis recommends this user friendly site is www.medicarerights.org.

In the second half of Healthstyles we hear from Sheree Crute, editor-in-chief and co-founder fierceforblackwomen.com Healthstyles new regular feature.

Ms. Crute discusses the second article in a three-part series on Black Women’s Health and fibroids –   Beating Fibroids: Find the Best Treatment for You.
