According to the National Alliance to End Homelessness, in 2021, the Coronavirus pandemic interrupted data collection of people who were unhoused. Although the homeless population is diverse, inequalities are evident and risk is significantly tied to gender, race, ethnicity, and socioeconomic status. HealthCetera Correspondent and Registered Nurse Eve Adler talked with Celina Alvarez, who has been working in the homeless sector for decades. Celina is the executive director at Housing Works of CA, a local nonprofit organization recognized for its best practice approach in getting unhoused people OFF the streets and INTO housing. Celina has also developed a College curriculum that introduces students to careers working in the homeless sector.
Then add: Their conversation is relevant to the growing housing issue in the nation. This interview first aired on HealthCetera in the Catskills, WIOX Radio, on October 26, 2022.
