Nancy Reame, PhD, RN, FAAN is Professor Emerita of Nursing at Columbia University, a researcher of women’s health and menopause, a registered nurse, and most recently, an osteoporosis diagnosee. Osteoporosis is a disease of decreased bone density, with the threshold of diagnosis being 25% or more bone loss compared to that of a standard 30 year old female. Dr. Reame’s diagnosis has motivated her to learn more about osteoporosis and spread awareness about the condition to adults over 65.
On this podcast, Diana Mason, PhD, RN, FAAN, registered nurse and host of this program, hosts Dr. Nancy Reame for an in-depth discussion about what osteoporosis is, how to analyze your own risk for developing it, and her personal experience with the disease.
