In 2018, NY State passed a law requiring that nurses who graduated with a diploma or associate degree in nursing get a baccalaureate degree within 10 years of becoming licensed in the state if they want to continue to practice as a registered nurse. The NYS Education Department recently issued regulations to implement this law and the regulations were approved by the Board of Regents. HealthCetera host Diana Mason, PhD, RN, talked about this law and the regulations with Ann Harrington, MPA, RN, the Executive Director of the New York Organization of Nurse Leaders, including why the public should care about the issue. This interview first aired on HealthCetera in the Catskills on WIOX Radio on May 13, 2026.
